Bus service on the number 9 route from Palolo to Pearl Harbor is detoured to a temporary bus stop on Makaloa Street while Kapiolani Boulevard is closed for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings.

City Managing Director Doug Chin this morning reported that there are no additional parking restrictions on the first day of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference.

At the city’s daily early morning briefing at Honolulu Hale at 6:15 a.m. Chin said that Kapiolani Boulevard between Kalaukala avenue and Kaheka street was closed to cars beginning at 6 a.m. around the Hawai’i Convention Center.

Chin said initial reports indicate that ridership on city buses has increased this week.

He also reiterated that the city on its website — http://www1.honolulu.gov/mayor/apec+calendar.htm  — has created a calendar tool that summarizes the affect APEC will have on city services and lists parking restrictions and street closures.
