4 people arrested in Chinatown for gambling offenses

Four people were arrested for gambling in Chinatown early Tuesday morning at the same building where police found various electronic gaming machines 15 months ago.

Arrested at 162 N. King St., between Kekaulike and River streets, about 12:05 a.m. Tuesday on misdemeanor gambling counts were: a woman, 36, of no permanent address; a man, 60, of a downtown address; a Waikiki man, 41; and a Mililani man, 51.

Details of the arrests were not available. Officers from the Honolulu Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice Division could not be reached for comment.

On Sept. 15, 2010, Chinatown patrol officers responded to reports of gunfire and a robbery on the second floor of 162 N. King. When the officers got upstairs, they found no evidence of either a robbery or a shooting. But about a dozen illegal video gaming machines were found, and later confiscated.
