Account set up for family of boy killed by hit-and-run driver

The parents of a 4-year-old boy who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in March have opened a fundraising account to help the family.

Donations can be made to the “Ashton M. Brown Memorial Fund” at any Bank of Hawaii branch.

Members of the Brown family were sitting at a bus stop on Farrington Highway in Makaha on March 28 when an alleged drunken driver crashed into the bus stop, killing Ashton Brown and injuring four other family members.

Police arrested Potasi Uta Jr., 44, who was later indicted for negligent homicide, four counts of negligent injury and fleeing the scene of a crash.
