Morning flood advisories for Molokai and Oahu have been cancelled, but a weakening cold front is expected to keep clouds and showers over some islands today.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Molokai as a band of heavy rain moved over the island and away from Oahu.

At 7:45 a.m., Radar showed heavy rain near Molokai Airport moving east at 10 mph.

The advisory was cancelled prior to the originally scheduled 10:45 a.m. end time. Forecasters early this morning also issued a flood advisory for Oahu, which expired at 8 a.m.

Thunderstorms are expected to continue across seas around Oahu and north of Molokai through mid morning, forecaster say.

The rainy weather could stick around over Oahu, Kauai and Maui through Thursday, National Weather Service forecasters say.

And when it’s not raining, forecasters expect muggy and hazy Kona weather until the northeast trade winds return and blow the vog and humidity away.

A weakening weather system has stalled over the islands, forecasters say.

“It (the weather system) is weakened from what it was, but what’s left of it is going to hang around the central islands between Maui and Kauai,” said National Weather Service forecaster Pete Donaldson.

Showers overnight on Oahu dropped nearly 2.8 inches on Hakipuu Mauka in Windward Oahu. About 2.5 inches fell on Mililani in the 24-hour period ending at 8 a.m.  About 2 inches fell in Waimanalo and Waihee; and about 1.5 inches was recorded in Hawaii Kai, Waiawa and Punaluu.
