Hawaii Kai family turns in son for illegal gun possession

Police arrested a 23-year-old convicted felon at his house Thursday on suspicion of possessing firearms after his family called in the alleged crime, police said.

The Hawaii Kai man’s family members called police around 6:30 p.m. to alert them that he had a firearm and ammunition in his possession, police said. Officers arrived at the family’s home, searched it, and located a weapon and ammunition, according to police documents. 

Police then located the suspect on-scene and arrested him without incident at 8 p.m. on suspicion of the felony offense of possessing or owning a prohibited firearm.
