Wahine hoops team falls short in Beeman coaching debut

The Hawaii women’s basketball team fell short in a comeback effort today at San Francisco and lost 65-52 in Laura Beeman’s coaching debut for the Rainbow Wahine.

UH pulled to within 52-46 with 4 minutes left, but would get no closer than that the rest of the way. The Wahine shot 31.2 percent from the field and had only four assists to 21 turnovers.

Diane Moore, Monica DeAngelis and Destiny King scored 10 points apiece to lead UH. Kamilah Jackson had eight points and 15 rebounds.

The Wahine jumped out to a 12-5 lead, but could not maintain their hot start. The Dons rallied to take a 28-23 lead at halftime.
