HPD is investigating the scene where a 40-year-old male jumped from a second story apartment with a one-year-old male at the 3002 Waialae Ave. in Honolulu on Sunday June 15, 2014.

Police arrested a 35-year-old Kaimuki man was for endangering the welfare of an 11-month old infant when he apparently jumped off the second floor of an apartment building Sunday.

Ambulance crews took the man and the infant boy were taken to the hospital in serious condition after the incident at an apartment building at 3002 Waialae Ave. at about 11 a.m. Sunday.

Police arrested the man suspicion of second-degree assault at about 11:30 a.m.

Authorities were alerted to the incident when a neighbor called to say a baby was crying, according to initial reports.

A neighbor said the man, wife and baby moved into the three-story apartment building at 3002 Waialae Ave. across the street from a tire supply store a couple of weeks ago.

Rob Santiago, an employee at nearby Island Recycling, said the man was conscious when carried by stretcher to the ambulance and the baby seemed healthy.
