Police look for witnesses to critical pedestrian accident

Honolulu police investigate an accident on Salt Lake Boulevard naer Kahuapaani Street Monday night after a man in his 70s was struck by a car and critically injured.

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking witnesses to a pedestrian accident that critically injured a man Monday night on Salt Lake Boulevard near Kahuapaani Street.

The man, initially reported to be in his 70s, was struck by a white 2004 four-door Suzuki at 8:12 p.m. while crossing Salt Lake Boulevard from south to north, CrimeStoppers said. He was taken to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.The driver of the Suzuki was not injured. 

Police have not identified the victim.

Police closed Salt Lake Boulevard eastbound lanes between Kahuapaani Street and Luapele Place while Traffic Division officers investigated the accident. The lanes reopened by about 3:30 a.m.
