First Lady Michelle Obama, with Bo, the Obama family dog on her lap, reads “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” during a Christmas holiday program at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Dec. 14, 2012.

First dog Bo upstaged first lady Michelle Obama during a visit to the Children’s National Medical Center earlier this month.

In a video released by the White House Tuesday, Obama is seen as she is about to read the holiday story, "’Twas the Night Before Christmas," when Bo jumps into her lap.

The audience breaks out laughing and Obama shares that Bo jumps into her lap all the time at the White House.

Obama’s visit to the children’s hospital is a holiday tradition that dates back to the 1950s.

Obama also answer questions from the children and said that Santa has his own Secret Service pass to deliver presents to the White House.

"Does he have to go through Secret Service?," Obama said. "Well, Santa is probably one of the only people in the world that has his own Secret Service pass.  I mean, everybody knows Santa — even the Secret Service.  So they give him a pass."
