More visitors spent more money in Hawaii last month, continuing a trend for the year that has put the state’s biggest industry into record territory.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority released November visitor arrivals and spending figures today indicating that spending during the first 11 months of this year has broken an annual record set in 2007.

Visitors to the state spent $1.1 billion in November, elevating the year-to-date total to $12.9 billion, which passed the all-time annual record of $12.6 billion set in 2007.

The November spending figure represented a 23 percent increase from $916 million in the same month last year.

The number of arrivals is close to, but remains shy of, the annual record of 7.6 million in 2006. This year through November, 7.3 million visitors have come to Hawaii, including 651,158 last month that represented a 15 percent increase from 568,628 arrivals in November 2011.
