Police found the 60-year-old homeless man hiding in a tent, along with a blood-stained shirt, near Aala Park on Saturday after he allegedly stabbed another man in the neck, according to court documents.

James Reed is charged with second-degree assault and first-degree terroristic threatening after he allegedly attacked Alexander Greenhill, 29, in Chinatown. 

Robinson is being held at Oahu Community Correctional Center unable to post bail of $75,000.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in District Court.

Police initially responded a report of a weapons violation at River and Hotel street at 3:33 p.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived, they found Greenhill holding his neck, saying he had been stabbed in the neck with a knife, according to a police affidavit.

At North Beretania and Aala streets, police officers were told that a man in a blue and yellow tent on the sidewalk said he had cut Greenhill’s throat and needed a change of shirt.

While searching the tent, police found shirt Reed had been wearing when the alleged assault occurred and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.

The man who initially had called police later went to the Chinatown police substation and said Reed had said he was going to kill Greenhill, according to a police statement said.

Prosecutors reduced the attempted murder charge to second-degree assault.

Reed has a record of 13 convictions, including two felonies for drug violations, beginning in 1992.
