» SMG management promised at the 1998 opening of the Hawai‘i Convention Center that it would generate $1.9 billion a year in visitor spending over the first decade, but averaged only $526 million a year. An "Off the News" item on Page A8 Tuesday said the $1.9 billion forecast was for the decade.

» The headline on a letter to the editor by Rob Rietow on Page A8 Monday should have read, "Fair tax can resolve immigration issue." The headline said "flat tax" instead of "fair tax," a national sales tax that the writer was endorsing.
