The National Weather Service canceled flash flood warnings for Oahu and Maui on Saturday night.

Radar showed heavy rains falling in the area just east of Ulupalakua on the slopes of Haleakala, the agency said.

A flash flood warning for Oahu was lifted at 10:45 p.m. after heavy rain and lightning forced the postponement of high school football games at Pearl City and Kailua high schools.

At 9:45 p.m., crews were working to clear fallen trees at Castle Junction and where Nuuanu Pali Drive and Kimo Drive intersect.

At 7:42 p.m., the Waihee River gauge near Waiahole showed a rapid rise in water level, the agency said. Heavy rain was coming down in Kahaluu and the system was nearly stationary, the weather service said.

Pearl City football coach Robin Kami said the Chargers’ OIA Division II game against Waialua has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday on Pearl City’s field. Waialua was ahead 14-12 with 10:59 left in the fourth quarter when the game was postponed after several lightning flashes in the area.

“The referees did a great job of being safe for the kids and the public,” Kami said. “I’m glad they did that because it’s more than the game of football.”

Kapolei athletics director Darren Camello said a decision will be made no later than 2 p.m. on Sunday whether to resume the game between the No. 8 Hurricanes and No. 10 Kailua at 6 p.m. Sunday night.

Kapolei and Kailua were tied 0-0 with 5:52 remaining in the first quarter when the game was postponed, and Kailua had the ball on the Kapolei 27-yard line.

Saturday’s game between Radford and Roosevelt at Aiea was delayed at about 8:15 p.m., but play resumed.
