Man, teen arrested in separate choking cases

Police arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of abuse after he allegedly tried to strangle his 30-year-old girlfriend in Waikiki.

The abuse occurred at about 1:45 a.m. Thursday when the couple were involved in an argument at the Waikiki Sand Villa Hotel.

Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of felony abuse of a household member.

The investigation is ongoing.

In a separate case, police arrested a 17-year-old teen after he allegedly tried to choke a 46-year-old man in Pupukea.

At about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the suspect and victim were involved in an argument when the suspect squeezed the victim’s neck, causing difficulty breathing.

Police arrested the teen on suspicion of abuse. He was released pending further investigation.
