LAS VEGAS >> Las Vegas police say they’re closing the case again on the death of a spa worker from Hawaii found in a cryotherapy chamber.

Police said Wednesday that the homicide unit tasked with re-examining the circumstances of the October death have concluded that it was not caused by a criminal act.

This comes a week after the case was reopened for further review.

Officers initially said the death was not suspicious and closed the case without a criminal investigation after 24-year-old Chelsea Patricia Ake-Salvacion was found dead inside a cryotherapy machine on Oct. 20.

But the unregulated treatment involving brief exposures to extreme subzero temperatures drew scrutiny from the state.

Police last week said it was reopening the case because of questions from other agencies.

The cause of death is still pending.
