Strong earthquake strikes off Fiji; No tsunami threat to Hawaii

A strong earthquake off the coast of Fiji this morning does not pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The preliminary magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck at 8:24 a.m. 106 miles east of Ceva-i-Ra, Fiji at a depth of 9.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no tsunami warnings or watches posted by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

    Hope that the fresh water that is bottled in Fiji hasn’t been affected.

    As usual, there will never be a “6-point-anything” quake that poses the slightest tsunami threat to Hawaii unless it happens locally.
