Police looking for car break-in suspect on bicycle

COURTESY HONOLULU POLICE DEPARTMENT Honolulu police released a security camera image of a man riding a bicycle who is suspected of breaking into a vehicle in Makiki on Jan. 14.

Honolulu police released a security camera image of a man on a bicycle hopes of identifying a suspect who broke into a car in Makiki earlier this month.

Police said a man broke into a vehicle parked on Victoria Street at about 12:13 p.m. on Jan. 14 and stole items.

The suspect, dressed in an orange t-shirt and shorts, wearing blue athletic shoes, fled on a bicycle and was carrying a black backpack. He appeared to have tattoos on his right leg.

Police released a security camera image on the honolulupd.org website and asked for the public’s help in identifying the man.

Anyone with information can call police at 529-3111 or CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone.

    High crime area like Salt Lake is. Better to not keep anything of value in your car. And have a low comprehensive insurance coverage deductable, just in case.

    Interesting…seems like some of the folks that used to practice their recon skills on the second floor of the Sam’s on Keeaumoku. Sometimes I used to see them pretending to use their cell phones while walking between parked cars looking in. Reported to Security and I presume to avoid an negligence they have opted to have Security posted on the second floor. Regardless, watch out whenever you exit or enter your car…attempt to be more vigilant when most at ease.
