Swell subsiding, but high surf advisory still up

A large northwest swell continues to weaken gradually today, but a high surf advisory is still in effect the National Weather Service in Honolulu said.

The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday and covers the north and west facing shores of Kauai and Niihau, the north facing shores of Oahu, Molokai, Maui, the west facing shores of Oahu and Molokai, and the north facing shores of the Big Island.

Surf is forecast to be 12 to 18 feet overnight and rising to 15 to 20 feet Sunday along the north and west shores of Kauai, Niihau and the north facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui.

The west facing shores of Oahu and Molokai will see faces of 8 to 12 feet, rising to 10 to 15 feet Sunday.

The Big Island’s north shores will see waves from 10 to 15 feet.
