Aiea man dies after motorcycle crash in Kaneohe

Police said a 27-year-old Aiea man was speeding when he lost control of his motorcycle Sunday on the Likelike Highway and ran into steel cables on the runaway truck ramp near the Kahekili offramp in Kaneohe.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Medical Examiner’s office to determine cause of death.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed on his 2014 Honda at 2:05 p.m., traveling east on the Likelike Highway when he exited on to the runaway truck ramp and hit “steel cable restraint nets.”

The victim was take to Castle Memorial Medical Center in critical condition where he later died.

This was Oahu’s 10th traffic death, compared to 13 at the me time a year ago.

    Still no word on if he had a helmet on. Young people think nothing can happen to them. Especially guys. So stupid and so sad.
