Ex-Maui High School coach charged with online indecent exposure to a child
A Maui High School English teacher was charged this week with five counts of indecent electronic display to a child by allegedly exposing his genitals over a computer online service, according to court records.
David V. Bui will be arraigned April 28 in Maui Circuit Court in Wailuku, court records show.
A criminal complaint filed in Maui Circuit Court on Wednesday alleges Bui exposed his genitals or committed lewd or lascivious acts over a computer online service, Internet service or local bulletin board service from May 2014 through September 2014.
The complaint also alleges that Bui knew, should have known or had reason to believe that the transmission was viewed on a computer or other electronic device by a minor known to him to be under the age of 18.
The complaint lists each month as a single count.
Bui, who had been teaching English to 9th- and 10-graders since August 2004, was placed on paid department-directed leave in February 2015, a Department of Education spokeswoman said.
He had also coached the school’s football team from 2005 and became the head coach in 2011, but resigned in February 2015 from that position as well, she said.

What an idiot!
You mean to say this pedophile is still on the DOE payroll a year after being put on leave for sending naked pics to a student? Why hasn’t he been terminated yet? The HSTA Union? They know he sent the pics to a student, that should be more than enough to fire him. No need to wait for the slow wheels of justice to find him guilty of a crime.
Did I miss something? What kind of reporting doesn’t even name he school? How can it be that hard to get all the facts. This is why I cancelled this paper previously. This isn’t reporting- try it again!
