The Ninth Annual Hawaii Geek Meet, geared for gadget lovers, tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, artists, coders and teachers, was held Sunday at Kapiolani Park and proved entertaining for all ages. The Hawaii Nerf League created a battlefield for Nerf fans where in one event Red Team member Spencer Harris, above, hit the ground carrying his “Doominator” 24-round Nerf rifle while battling Blue Team opponents.

Carlino Giampolo does a bit of beautification on a patch of ground at Diamond Head Lookout where he and Michelle Aiwohi began a project to add plantings and grass on the makai side of the wall at the parking area, Friday, July 22, 2016. Carlino adds a miniature flag of Spain to the 24 other flags at the site, which include Hawaii and the USA. He said he hoped the flags would instill a sense of pride to visitors from those countries that stop at the lookout.
