Police arrest Nuuanu man in attempted murder case

A 29-year-old Nuuanu man turned himself into police Wednesday after being sought as the prime suspect in the incident where a man was struck by a car following a fight in the parking lot of a Makakilo townhouse.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree criminal property damage.

Police said the suspect intentionally struck the 28-year-old victim’s vehicle at about 1 a.m. Tuesday. When the victim got out of his vehicle, the suspect allegedly struck the victim with his car before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken in stable condition to a hospital after he was helped by bystanders.

Police opened a second-degree attempted murder and first-degree criminal property damage investigation.

The case was initially investigated by the police department’s domestic abuse detail.
