Waianae woman dies after crashing into pole
A 53-year-old Waianae woman died Saturday night after losing control of her car and crashing into a power pole, Honolulu police said.
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on Waianae Valley Road, about 200 feet north of Plantation Road.
The woman was traveling southbound on Waianae Valley Road when she traveled into the shoulder lane and collided into a pole.
Speed, alcohol and drugs appear to be contributing factors, police said.
This is the Oahu’s 31st traffic fatality, compared to 30 at the same time last year.

Good to hear that she will no longer be endangering the public by driving after drinking and doing drugs. The only downside to the Darwinian effect is that innocent lives have the potential to be impacted…

i’d have compassion if the lady wasn’t speeding and driving drunk..luckily she never kill your family member..then we’d see if you had compassion for this woman or anyone who drinks and drives
Rest in peace, Auntie. I’ve driven that road many times; it’s not a treacherous one. The curves are gentle and doesn’t sneak up on you, even while driving a van. There are no cloverleaf road bends. The sad reminders of fatal accidents are the local-style markers of old flowers, toys and mementos of past horrific accidents. Sad.

A bad weekend for poles!
Has anybody noticed how many poles along H-1 around Kapolei area have dents in them? I started noticing after one pole was knocked down. I thought the west side people had a new sport trying to knock down light poles. Then I noticed it’s everywhere – In Mililani some guys knocked down a few light poles and even a fire hydrant. All likely due to paying more attention to cell phones instead of DRIVING!

Anyways good riddance to bad rubbish. The world’s a better place without this trash. Hope the pole’s okay though.

Sober or not, people drive too fast on Waianae Valley road. Slow down, your on an island, no matter how fast you drive, you will still be on an island. Kind of like driving in a circle, if you think about it.
