  2. NanakuliBoss says:

17 year old is not a little kid. Attempted murder for fighting in the ocean? Cmon, cannot man up, brah no surf velzy.

    • AhiPoke says:

      Uh,39-year-old Nanakuli man/NanakuliBoss??? Any relationship???

    • primo1 says:

Being 39 years old does not make one an adult either apparently.

    • Allaha says:

Nanakuli boss expresses typical Nanakuli culture. Deplorable.

      • Denominator says:

Whole basket full of deplorables out there.

      • NanakuliBoss says:

This is what happens when entitled teens think they can cut off an adult. Always yield to your elder. American culture teaches you this. Auwe.

And there you have it folks!!!! Straight out of Nanakuli!! “Da punk kid wen drop in on me, dat guy!?” You see, this is why I gave up on surfing years ago. Far too much bruddahs (and white bruddahs, too) Thinking they got more testosterone then me. Like I care. But they all wanna show everybody what a top tier surfer they are. And stay oughta my way, brah! Every break, every island has plenty guys (and girls too!!!) who have no courtesy to share waves with each other. Too many guys everyday go out and play “Hog Cheese” Such a burn out to enjoy a session when you can’t get waves b’cuz some selfish punk drops in on everybody in his effort to get his 10th wave of the morning and you haven’t been able to get at least 1 good ride yet. Obviously, this 39 year old gutless banana was tired of some 17 year old kid (who could have been the one stealing everyone’s waves, too) and over-reacted. Whatever. Maybe he should have decided to go in before all that stuff happened?

        • NanakuliBoss says:

Chill pilot. No one said “punk”. Geez.

        • NanakuliBoss says:

“Bruddah”? Lol. It’s “braddah”…go buy da kine local buk.

      • allie says:

NB can be mean but at heart he is very kind and compassionate. I have seen his better side.

        • NanakuliBoss says:

Oh my, sweet words allie. Yes, as the boss, I have repremanded the 39 year old youngster. He said the kid screamed” Eh,you not from dis side! Beat it. Did the police check who had more salt water in their lungs? Kids on the North Shore are huge. Did you see the Kahuku football team? 15 year old 6’4, 320 lbs.! Many of them. Anyway good luck to Kahuku in Vegas. Beat BG.

    • peanutgallery says:

What a punk you are NB. What a punk…

  3. soundofreason says:

    Wednesday….5:30? Umm….job?

  4. NanakuliBoss says:

Wait, velzy not near Haleiwa. Eh SA you guys know your surf areas?

  5. leino says:

So much room for speculation. I would love an SA story that really develops both sides of the story and then discusses how issues like this might best be resolved or prevented. Lost opportunities …

    • HIE says:

Please. This is just an intitial police report. Deeper stories don’t happen overnight.

      • opihi123 says:

But will they follow up on it?? Maybe.. I will probably have to hear about it from my friends to find out what really happened…this kind of stuff has gone on for years.. From this coverage, you cannot tell what happened.. there are a lot of disrespectful kids nowadays.. and a lot of adult crazies too..

      • primo1 says:

I don’t think there’s much depth to this story: one guy drops in on the other guy, tempers flare, young guy gets water boarded. End of story.

    • Mythman says:

why don’t you start your own newspaper, roberts, so you can influence everyone to behave according to your arbitrary views instead of just using the NSNB to promote your own views?

  6. allie says:

    scary out there

  7. Morimoto says:

Didn’t an earlier story say the boy refused to press charges against the 39 year old?

    • Carang_da_buggahz says:

If true, the “boy” has an uncommonly strong sense of intelligence and self-preservation. Otherwise, he’ll be looking behind his back from now on when he paddles out. He might not be so lucky next time.

  8. inverse says:

Need more information was the 39 year old a local and the teenage boy a visitor? Makes a difference because was checking online about the Wolf Pack that kind of took over for the Black Shorts or Da Hui that are a local group of surfers that “patrol” and use vigilante justice for surfers who supposedly cut in, hog waves or disrespect the the local surfers. Sounds like it in this case.

  9. Allaha says:

Bad behavior, but overpopulation even causes road rage and surf overcrowding and misery of every aspect of our lives. And Nanakuli culture is low life.

  10. saveparadise says:

Respect. If you’re gonna act dumb you better be tough. Be aware and understand the pecking order.

  11. 808warriorfan says:

REAL TOUGH GUY … picking on a teenager … HOPE HE HAS TO REGISTER AS A CHILD MOLESTER !!!!!

  12. iwanaknow says:

Check out the book from the Public Library “Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life” by William Finnegan……you’ll find the answer to yesterday’s incident.

even your friend POTUS Obama read this book over the Summer.

  13. scooters says:

Just shows the mentality of the “kind” local surfer dudes..

    • HanabataDays says:

Ah, this happens everywhere. CA is notorious for it.

      • DannoBoy says:

That is true. Nearly all places have local folks, working class, grew up in the area, attended public schools, holds traditional values and gender roles, distrust of outsiders, territorial, more likely to settle disputes face to face and papain with violence, childhood ties to folks who become police and others in organized crime/graft, ties to many people and pkaces and history of a neighborhood or town or county.

This is an oversimplification, but is what I have observed in communities across the country. Hawaii is no different. In old Hawaii, they were called “makainana”.

  14. allie says:

I think the overcrowding of all our public facilities causes rage. Men, especially men who are inadequate in some fashion, are especially likely to ex[ress rage.
