Maui police arrest man, 87, in fatal crash; identify victim in another hit-and-run
Maui police made an arrest in one hit-and-run fatality over the weekend, and identified the victim in another.
Officers arrested an 87-year-old Kula man in a pedestrian accident in Kula Friday that killed Destiny Delima, 30, of Kahului.
Police arrested the man Monday and recovered a white 1998 Ford Explorer from his home. He was released pending investigation.
Destiny Delima, 30, of Kahului died after she was struck by a vehicle traveling on Pulehu Road Friday night. Delima was walking near the east shoulder when she was hit and the vehicle fled, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Maui police also identified a pedestrian killed in another hit-and-run crash on Piilani Highway Sunday as Hannah Simmons of Kihei. They are still looking for the vehicle that hit Simmons on Kaiwahine Street at about 8:50 p.m.
Police said the vehicle, possibly a blue Dodge or Chevy full-sized pickup truck with a modified lift and tires, made a left turn onto the highway when it struck Simmons who was in a marked crosswalk. She was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition where she later died from her injuries.

Remember folks, do NOT criticize the reckless drivers or the Star-Advertiser will delete your posts like they did to dozens of posts yesterday. All we are allowed to do is offer sympathy to the drivers and their families.
Remember, folk: conflating the circumstances behind completely different scenarios and then lying about it to justify the complete lack of class shown will be noticed and probably commented on.

Actually, as someone who HAS notified S-A about so-called “inappropriate comments” in the past, particularly regarding those that advocate the commission of homosexual prison rape on people who have yet to go to trial for, let alone convicted of a crime, all I can say for sure is that S-A’s software and human moderators are asleep at the switch for the most part. It got to the point where I suspected one or more of the responsible S-A staff actually approves of sexual assault committed between prison inmates.
A really good on-the-ball forum or comments section will let ALL its members know what a particular poster’s offense was and why he or she is now suspended or banned from future participation.
So no, I don’t regard this site as a quality place to discuss current events. As I’ve said before, I just come here to play. After all’s said and done, this ain’t my house and ain’t my rules.
The old guy belongs in jail. End of story.
Any hit and run driver deserves jail. Period.

Well, there’s plenty of people over 87 who are still driving.
That’s scary….
and there are many people, young & old, that drive without any driver’s license. No, they didn’t leave it at home. They just hop in the vehicle and drive.
Well we know Mayor Alan Arakawa didn’t kill that person.
