Hawaiian Airlines tops U.S. carriers again for punctuality

Dave Segal

Hawaiian Airlines remained the top-ranked carrier for on-time performance after 91.5 percent of its flights arrived on time during November, according to data released today by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The U.S. average among the 12 reporting carriers was 86.5 percent.

Hawaiian has led all U.S. carriers in on-time performance for each of the past 12 years. A flight is considered “on time” by the DOT if it operated less less than 15 minutes after the scheduled arrival time.

The state’s largest carrier also ranked fourth in fewest cancellations for the month with 0.2 percent, representing 11 cancellations out of 6,704 flights.

In other categories, Hawaiian finished with the six fewest consumer complaints with 0.59 per 100,000 passengers and had the seventh least mishandled baggage reports with 2.32 per 1,000 passengers.

probably the employees care as they’re the ones that make it happen and cholo is sure that it is rewarding for them to see the fruits of their labor. and probably potential passengers would be interested in choosing an airline that gets them from point a to point b with minimal disruption.

Again, I have to remind everybody that scattrunner wasn’t hired by Hawaiian Airlines when Aloha went out of business. Come on man, dust yourself off and go get an airline job. You’re just acting like a bitter dude popping off from his parent’s basement.

  3. Morimoto says:

Prediction: Hawaiian will have the highest on-time performance for the month of December, and January, and February. Unless of course a major snowstorm hits the Hawaiian islands during February. Their consumer complaints and mishandled baggage reports don’t look so rosy, given that there are only 12 airlines reporting.

  4. 64hoo says:

the reason why Hawaiian has the best time of arriving at there destination on time is because they don’t have that many jets that other airline have going to a lot of states and overseas countries that’s why they are always 91% on time.

  5. HOSSANA says:

Hawaiian should work on the personalities of their Flight Attendants with their sometimes “snotty, snobby, and condescending” attitude.
Also, the reason why Hawaiian always is tops in punctuality is that they don’t have many destinations going in/out of airports worldwide like Delta, American, and United.

TWELVE hour “delay” coming back from Vegas. They’ve got TWO points to go to and they can’t even manage those two points.

The pilots should be given some of the credit.
