Brown-water advisory issued for Sunset Beach and Waimea Bay

The state issued a brown-water advisory for Sunset Beach and Waimea Bay on Oahu’s North Shore today at about noon.

The public is advised to stay out of waters at Waimea Bay as well as Sunset Beach due to heavy rain that caused possible overflowing of cesspools, sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter and associated flood debris.

If the water is brown, stay out and continue to practice good personal hygiene, the state Department of Health advised. The department posts advisories online which are effective until removed.
