Bruno Mars hits No. 1 on iTunes

The national reputation of local-born hitmaker Bruno Mars is growing, as his major record label Elektra just announced that his “Just the Way You Are” is the No. 1 most-downloaded song on iTunes.

The song is the breakout track for Mars’ upcoming debut album “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” scheduled for release on Oct. 5. He will also be performing “Nothin’ on You” on Sunday at the MTV Video Music Awards with pop-rapper B.o.B, who together have been nominated for Best Pop Video.

Mars is also a member of the successful production trio the Sneezingtons, along with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine. Besides “Nothin’ on You,” the team was resposible for the “Billionaire” collaboration with Travie McCoy,
and the current online sensation by Cee Lo Green, “Fk You (FU).”

The Honolulu-born Mars will be headlining his own world promotional tour that will kick off in mid-November and carry on through the end of the month. The tour starts on the West Coast, jumps over the Atlantic for European dates, and returns to the mainland. There has been no word yet if Mars will fit in a Hawaii date as part of the tour.
