A flash flood watch remains for Kauai and Niihau through 6 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

“A moist and somewhat unstable air mass may produce additional heavy showers across Kauai and Niihau, mainly during the evening,” forecasters said Friday afternoon. “Grounds are saturated, and any additional heavy rain could lead to flash flooding.”

For the rest of the state, forecaster said trade winds are slowly returning.

“Expect a more normal trade wind weather pattern with periods of showers favoring windward and mountain areas through Tuesday. Trade winds weaken next week Wednesday through Friday, bringing another round of drier weather with more variable winds,” they said.
