Police stake out leads to arrest of theft suspects

A police stake out led to the arrest of an auto theft suspect in Haleiwa.

Honolulu police said Friday that they conducted a surveillance operation in Haleiwa on Wednesday because of an increase in car break-ins in the area.

Police said officers saw a 25-year-old man enter another man’s vehicle, take property and run into another vehicle driven by a 17-year-old girl.

Police stopped the suspect’s vehicle and arrested the man and girl.

Officers also arrested the 25-year-old suspect for resisting arrest.
