Freedom was fleeting for a Big Island inmate, who was supposed to be released in October, but failed to return while on a work furlough pass.

Sean Duyser, 46,  was reported missing from the Hale Nani Work Reintegration Center in Hilo at about 3:34 a.m. Thursday. 

South Hilo patrol officers arrested him at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Duyser was serving 60 days for  third-degree theft.  He was supposed to be released on Oct. 2.  Now, he will face an additional escape charge, which has a penalty of up to five years in prison.. 

Duyser weighs about 140 pounds.  He is 5 feet 7 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on Duyser is asked to contact Hawaii ounty  Police. 

Hale Nani is a community-based reintegration program located five miles from Hawaii Community Correctional Center. It offers offender reintegration services and a work release program for sentenced inmates who will soon be released on the island of Hawaii.
