Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a male suspect who allegedly stole items from a grocery store and threatened an employee in Kalihi-Palama.

Police released security camera images and video of the suspect.

At approximately 12:50 p.m. on Oct. 25, police said the suspect entered the Foodland located at 1505 Dillingham Boulevard, took merchandise and left the store without paying.

A surveillance camera video showed the suspect taking two bottles from a shelf and putting them in a backpack before leaving the store.

Police said the suspect threatened to hit an employee with a bottle when confronted about the items.

Anyone with information is asked to call Honolulu police at 529-3111 or CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone.

Oct. 25 and only now we’re hearing about it? Jeez.

  3. HRS134 says:

Dude needs some cracks. Stealing is one thing, threatening bodily harm is a whole different story. I would have put that crumb on the ground and slapped on the metal bracelets.

or Supreme Court Judge, US General, President perhaps? Nice to see that racism is alive an well in Hawaii, I thought America has grown intellectually, but “butinski” shows that narrow minded attitudes still exist. I know I won’t be able to take any of your posts seriously in the future.

  5. juscasting says:

Early arrival for the Honolulu marathon?

  6. 64hoo says:

hey SA lets get to real news like 2 policeman in Iowa gunned down and killed in a ambush, suspect arrested.

  7. Marauders_1959 says:

Picture looks like one of the mainland immigrants.
    Definitely not a Kamaaina !!!

  8. butinski says:

Hmm. Hilarious. Other posters think like I do from their comments but only beat around the bush., afraid to tell it like it is in Hawaii.

    • TigerEye says:

Oh, you’re the man. I’m sure you also brag about the great courage you display when breaking wind in packed elevators.

    • kokocats says:

So it is OK be a racist as long as others agree with you? Interesting, maybe you should use your real name instead of hiding your racism. Hawaii was a nice melting pot where we all got along. Seems that small minds like yours are starting to be the norm. Sad!

Let’s just ignore the majority of prison inmates coming from the minority of the population. Yeah, that’s ignorantly blissful.

        • TigerEye says:

          “Let’s just ignore…”

Well, that’s what you do alright – every time the star of one of these little episodes is white.

          Not. One. Peep.

It’s telling that a black shoplifter gets more indignant rage out of you guys than a white spree killer.

I don’t think like you do. Hate is destructive. I don’t think like Trump either and the reason I would never vote for him.

  9. WalkoffBalk says:

He has to update his resume.

  10. inverse says:

This story is NOT about the race of the shoplifter. This story should be how the ban on plastic bags on Oahu has made it EASIER and encourages shoplifting. Because for many stores bags are not provided and they will charge 10 cents a bag at the checkout, many people have no choice but to carry large bags or backpacks with them into the store and which makes it difficult for stores to ban large bags or backpacks to be carried into their store. Just allow those biodegradable plastic bags at no charge because really doubt these type of bags do any harm to the environment. The heavy plastic bags that most stores charge 10 cents appear to be much worse for the environment than those thin biodegradable plastic bags stores and supermarkets used to provide.

Not in this case, based on the fact that police said the suspect threatened to hit an employee with a bottle when confronted about the items, it’s safe to assume his intent was to walk out without paying irrespective whether he was offered a free bag or not.

The plastic bag issue is not an issue. Bring your personal bags and put the items into the shopping cart, not into your personal bag or backpack. Once at the checkout the store bag boy can bag your items into your personal bags. No different than it was before just that you’re bringing bags with you.
