Easter Sunday should be dry and cool on Oahu, Maui and Kauai, but rain is still possible on Hawaii island as a weather system gradually weakens moves away from the islands.

The cold front that passed through the rest of the state Saturday is near Hawaii island and could bring showers there today,  mostly in windward areas, forecasters said.

Skies should be mostly sunny over Oahu, but there’s a slight chance of showers tonight.

It may also be be time to bring out the sweaters and extra blankets at night.

The cool north winds and will drop temperatures at night into the 50s on the North Shore and mauka areas through Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service issued and then canceled flood advisories for Oahu and Hawaii island when passing heavy rain began falling late Saturday morning on Kailua-Kona and at about noon in the Fort Shafter area on Oahu.

Most of Saturday’s rain fell on the neighbor islands. On Maui, Wailuku got about 3 inches of rain in the 24 hour period ending at 5 p.m. Kilohana on Kauai’s north shore saw about 2 inches. as did Waiakea Uka, Mountain View and Glenwood  on Hawaii island.

On Oahu, about a half inch of rain fell at Aloha Tower.
