City names acting director for Department of Transportation Services

Mark Garrity, deputy director of the Department of Transportation Services, has been named acting director.

He will replace Michael Formby, who will serve as the acting executive director of the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation, or HART, until board names an interim or permanent executive director. Formby replaced Dan Grabauskas who resigned last week.

Garrity has been with the City since 2013. Prior to joining the city, he helped plan transit projects in Honolulu, Phoenix, Portland and Abu Dhabi.

So now we will have someone taking his place? The snowball effect. If no one will temporarily take his place, then it is an admission that his job can be abolished.
