Kauai police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons who stole laptop computers and other electronic devices from Kapaa Elementary School during the winter break.

The theft happened sometime between Dec. 28 and Jan. 3, a Kauai Police Department news release said. An estimated $20,000 worth of electronics were stolen, including 12 white MacBook laptops, 20 black Kindles, an InFocus projector and several video and digital cameras.

The items were stolen from a classroom. Police said there was no forced entry into the room, but that someone apparetly pred open the metal cabinets in which items were stored.

“We’re alerting the public of the incident as the suspects are likely to try and sell the items on the street or on the Internet,” Assistant Police Chief Roy Asher said in the news release Monday.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police dispatch at 241-1711 or CrimeStoppers at 241-1887.
