Hawaii County police have charged a man who was arrested last week in connection with a report of gunshots in Hilo on Sept. 30.

Kevin Kuhia, 34, who has no permanent address, was charged with first-degree reckless endangering, unauthorized control of a motor vehicle, ownership of a firearm prohibited, and a firearms violation. His bail was set at $70,000.

On Sept. 30, Hilo patrol officers responded to a report that a man had fired several rounds from a red Mazda Miata in front of a house on Elama Street in the Panaewa area.

On Oct. 3, police located the car and Kuhia in a vacant lot on Lehua Street in the Fern Acres subdivision in Puna.
