Rock fall mitigation work is being performed at Hanauma Bay.

The city's Department of Parks and Recreation says about 200 bags of rock debris will be airlifted via helicopter to the preserve on Tuesday, when the east Oahu nature preserve is closed to the public.

The rocks are being airlifted from the top of the ridge to the upper parking lot area. Dump trucks will haul the rocks out of the preserve.

Hanauma Bay is scheduled to reopen Wednesday at 6 a.m.
