Maui police investigate beating of man at Kalama Park

Maui police are investigating a fight in Kihei that left a 44-year-old man in critical condition on Saturday.

According to police, a Kihei patrol officer was flagged down by a man exiting Kalama Park and informed that a fight was in progress and that a man was badly beaten and in need of assistance.

The officer found the unconscious victim alone near a pavilion by the skate rink and suffering from multiple injuries.

The victim was transported by paramedics to Maui Memorial Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the case as attempted murder.
