Man in stable condition after car hits tree in Kahala

A man was in stable condition after the motor vehicle he was in struck a tree in Waialae-Kahala, according to the Honolulu Emergency Medical Service.

The man, 33, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to a trauma hospital after the accident at about 5:18 p.m. today on Halekoa Drive.

Can't you write "after the motor vehicle he was driving struck a tree" or, even more concise, "after he drove into a tree"? It's ridiculous to see all these stories about cars doing things when it's obvious that in almost every single case the driver was the cause.
