Jury rules in favor of NCAA in Seattle Bowl case
A Hawaii jury has ruled that the NCAA did not interfere with the Seattle Bowl’s success or ability to be sold.
Aloha Sports Inc., which owns the Seattle Bowl, sued in 2007 claiming the NCAA interfered with an arrangement to sell the Seattle Bowl in 2003.
The Seattle Bowl, formerly the Oahu Bowl, played in 2001 and 2002 and was decertified in 2003. The Aloha Bowl was moved to San Francisco but never received certification.
Honolulu attorney William McCorriston, who represented the NCAA, said Wednesday that the lawsuit had been seeking more than $2 million and punitive damages.
NCAA general counsel Donald Remy says the lawsuit was an attempt to hold the NCAA accountable for the company’s business failures.
Aloha Sports couldn’t be reached for comment.
