Firefighters recovered the body of a diver this morning who had been missing off of Kahala Beach since last night.

Shortly after firefighters resumed its search for the diver at 5:45 a.m. today, a beachgoer who was walking on the beach reported seeing a body in the water offshore.

Police said the body matched the description of the missing diving.

The diver, described to be in his late 30s, was last seen off of Kahala Beach at about 10 p.m. Thursday. He was part of a group of four divers that were diving near the reef approximately 200 yards off of the beach when he went missing.

The fire department searched with its helicopter and along the shoreline for more than two hours last night before suspending their search at approximately 12:15 a.m.
