South swell predicted to arrive today
Surfers are hoping a new south swell will arrive as predicted this afternoon on the first day of summer.
Surf this morning was in the two to three foot range on the South Shore. The National Weather Service is predicting that the swell should produce waves in the four to six foot range later today.
A bigger south swell arriving Thursday may produce surf reaching the high surf advisory height of eight feet and last through the weekend.
Also on Thursday, trade winds are predicted generate a wind swell on east shores.
Surfers should have plenty of time to enjoy today’s waves. Today is the summer solstice, he longest day of the year.
