Honolulu’s Michelle Wie shot a 2-over 74 today at the LPGA Championship and is tied for 35th at 2-over 146 at the halfway point of the second major on the women’s professional tour. She trails fellow American and second-round leader Cristie Kerr (66—134) by a dozen shots.

Wie overcame a 3-over start on the back nine with three birdies and two bogeys on her second nine to avoid missing the cut by two shots on the difficult Locust Hill Country Club course in Pittsford, N.Y.

The Punahou School graduate hit seven of 14 fairways and 14 of 18 greens in regulation. She struggled with her putting, needing 35 putts for her round. She is averaging 264 yards off the tee, but is not in contention at the halway point. Kerr is five shots clear of the field.
