National award honors MVT director for service

Dwight T. Martin, producing director of Manoa Valley Theatre since 1980, has received the David C. Bryant Outstanding Service Award for significant, valuable and lasting service to community theater from the Association of Community Theatre.
Martin was honored Friday in a ceremony prior to the performances at AACT International 10 in Venice, Fla.
Martin has worked professionally in theater management since 1977. Since assuming his post at Manoa Valley Theatre, he also has contributed to the group as an actor. He starred or co-starred in MVT’s productions of "Sylvia," "Deathtrap," "M. Butterfly" and, most recently, opposite Todd Coolidge in the spring production of "Sleuth."
Martin is a past president of the Hawaii State Theatre Council and continues to serve as a board member. He received the HSTC Pierre Bowman Award for lifetime achievement in 2000.
