Honolulu’s Michelle Wie shot an 11-over-par 82 today in the first round of the U.S. Women’s Open in Oakmont, Pa.
Wie had three double bogeys during a four-hole stretch on her first nine holes en route to an 8-over 43. She had three bogeys on her back nine, including one on the final hole.
In all, the Punahou School graduate and Stanford student had five bogeys, three double bogeys and no birdies in her round.
Another Honolulu golfer, Stephanie Kono shot a 7-over 78.
Former Big Island resident Kimberly Kim teed off later.
