Stabbed man in critical condition

A man believed to be in his 40s was reported in critical condition after he was apparently stabbed repeatedly yesterday afternoon in Salt Lake.

Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a call to an Ala Lilikoi Street address about 4:45 p.m. and found the victim with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

2 sought in Waikiki robbery, assault

Honolulu police were searching for two men in connection with a knifepoint assault and robbery Friday afternoon in Waikiki.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, was walking near the corner of Kuhio and Seaside avenues when he was approached by two unidentified males.

One of the males brandished a knife and the other punched the victim in face before fleeing with his bag, police said.

Aiea man charged with forgery

A 29-year-old Aiea man was charged Friday with forging a check to buy a used car in Aiea, police said.

Paul Kaahanui of Moanalua Road faces one count of second-degree forgery. His bail was set at $27,000, including a $2,000 warrant.

Police said Kaahanui made the fraudulent purchase on Jan. 26. After he was identified by a photo, he was arrested at his home about 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Judge will rule in Maui shooting case

A Maui judge is deciding the case of a man charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his 19-year-old son.

The defense says 47-year-old Joe Antonio acted in self-defense when he shot Jose Antonio Jr. on Dec. 16, 2008.

Deputy Prosecutor Melinda Mendes said in closing arguments Thursday that the senior Antonio was angry with his son and acted deliberately. Antonio Jr. was shot five times.

According to witnesses, there were arguments and confrontations between the father and son in the hours before the shooting.
