Except for USC opener, all UH football games on PPV this season

Oceanic Time Warner Cable expects to offer the most extensive lineup of University of Hawaii football games in its nine years of pay-per-view with 12 of the Warriors’ 13 games in its 2010 package.

They will headline an 18-event, 20-contest offering that is said to involve a "slight increase" in prices over last year, according to people familiar with the project but not authorized to speak on Oceanic’s behalf.

Oceanic officials declined to comment on the package or pricing structure yesterday, saying an announcement was expected later this week.

However, a pay-per-view schedule sent to some clients listed every UH football game except the Sept. 2 season opener against Southern California. ESPN has said it will show that game.

The other six home games are scheduled for pay-per-view in HD.

The remainder of the UH sports package, according to the letter from Oceanic, will include three men’s basketball games, two from the Rainbow Classic, and five volleyball matches (three featuring UH) in the Hawaiian Airlines Volleyball Classic, Sept. 3-5.

Pay-per-view did approximately $3.4 million in sales last season, down from $4.1 million in 2008, UH has said. UH’s share in 2009 was about $2.5 million, with the rest divided among its other partners, Oceanic and KFVE.

The highlights of the football pay-per-view package are road games at Army (Sept. 11), Colorado (Sept. 18), Fresno State (Oct. 9) and Boise State (Nov. 6).

Rainbow Wahine volleyball matches include UH against Michigan State (Sept. 3) and USC (Sept. 5).

All 20 contests will come with replay and are subject to change, the Oceanic letter read.

UH has announced that football season-ticket holders are eligible to receive the six-game road pay-per-view package for $99, which it said will be a $200 discount from the fee otherwise charged.
