Rush girls make national title game

The Hawaii Rush ’95 girls soccer team shoots for the under-14 premier division championship in the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup IX finals in Virginia Beach., Va., today.

The Hawaii girls blanked Quickstrike FC of New York 2-0 yesterday, capping an undefeated three-match run through pool play and have yet to concede a goal.

In other tournament action, the Hawaii Rush ’95 girls topped the MPS Lady Knights (Mass.), 4-0, yesterday in the under-15 premier division, and the Kona Krushers were shut out 4-0 by HC United ’93/’94 Red (Fla.) in under-16 premier group play.

Tar Heels win Anaheim tourney

The Honolulu Tar Heels captured the 10-and-under championship of the Summer Jam Basketball Classic in Anaheim, Calif.

The Tar Heels, coached by Kelly Grant, won by an average margin of 25 points. The roster is comprised of Noah Bumanglag, Zayne Chong, Laamea Frank, Payton Grant, Cole Mausolf, Micah Mitchell, Kameron Ng and Ryan Van Cantfort and assistant coach Leighton Mitchell.
