Kahala bank robber being sought

Honolulu police are looking for a man who robbed the Kahala branch of Bank of Hawaii yesterday morning.

About 10:25 a.m., a man entered the bank at 4634 Kilauea Ave., approached the teller and handed a demand note.

The male fled on foot in an unknown direction on Kilauea Avenue.

The suspect was in his 40s, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black and gray jacket, baseball cap and long denim pants.

Male suspect flees in woman’s attire

Police called to investigate a burglary in a Kaimuki home late Tuesday night arrested a suspect when they were notified of an illegal entry at a second house nearby.

Police said the suspect, a man in his late 20s, entered the first house and fled wearing the female resident’s clothing. As police were investigating the scene, dispatch received a call regarding illegal entry at another home several blocks away.

Officers found the suspect still inside the second home and arrested him. When the female victim from the first home arrived at the scene, she identified the suspect.

The suspect is being held pending burglary and unauthorized-entry charges in connection with the two cases.

Teen arrested in theft from 2 boys

A 14-year-old boy was arrested in Kalihi on Tuesday afternoon when two younger boys he allegedly robbed identified him as a student at their school and the culprit.

Police said the victims, both 12, were approached by a teenager who took their cell phones and $11 cash under threat of physical harm.

The suspect’s mother brought the suspect to the Kalihi substation after the victims identified him to police. He was arrested on two counts of second-degree robbery.

Man arrested in threat on guard

A man who went to the Honolulu Police Department Chinatown substation claiming he was assaulted was arrested for threatening a downtown security guard Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the suspect yelled at a retail business as he was walking by. When queried by a building security guard, the man became agitated and appeared to move toward the guard with a knife in his hand, police said.

The 33-year-old security guard, fearing he would be cut by the knife, fended off his would-be attacker by punching him in the face, police said. The suspect, 50, then went to the substation, where was arrested for alleged first-degree terroristic threatening.

Blaze destroys house in Palolo Valley

An Ahe Place home in Palolo was destroyed by fire yesterday.

A woman who lived at the home, located toward the end of the street near the stream, was not there when the fire broke out.

The Fire Department was dispatched at 5:09 p.m., and the two-alarm blaze was declared under control at 5:59 p.m. About 30 firefighters were on the scene.

The roof on one side of the house collapsed, and Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig said damage to the home was estimated at $250,000. The cause has not been determined.

Car hits man on highway

A 45-year-old pedestrian suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a car while crossing Kuhio Highway in Lihue on Tuesday night.

The man, who has no permanent address, was not in a marked crosswalk.

According to Kauai County news release, the man was attempting to cross the highway about 7:30 p.m. when he was hit by a silver Toyota Camry traveling north.

The man was taken to Wilcox Hospital for treatment and was taken by medical helicopter to the Queen’s Medical Center early yesterday morning.
