A 22-year-old Kilauea man died in a single-car crash in Kalihiwai, Kauai.
He was identified as Alexander Texeira.
At approximately 12:35 a.m., police said Texeira was traveling north in a pick-up truck on Kuhio Highway near mile-marker 25 when his truck went off the roadway, climbed an embankment and flipped over several times. Police said he was thrown from the truck.
He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Paramedics transported Texeira to Wilcox Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Texeira’s death is the 10th traffic-related fatality on Kauai compared to 6 at the same time last year.
